The Economic and Social Council is responsible for promoting international economic and social cooperation and development. The Trusteeship Council was responsible for overseeing the administration of trust territories, but its mandate has been completed, and it no longer meets.
The UN has significantly contributed to international peace and security since its inception. It has played a key role in resolving conflicts, promoting disarmament, and providing humanitarian aid. It has also been instrumental in promoting economic and social development, protecting human rights, and combating climate change.
However, the UN has faced criticism for its effectiveness, particularly in maintaining international peace and security. It has been accused of being slow and inefficient in responding to crises, and its decisions have been criticized for being influenced by the interests of its most powerful members.
